To my incredible medical team and physical therapist,

Thank you doesn't feel like enough. When my leg was injured, fear and frustration felt heavier than any cast. But you saw past the injury to the person who just wanted mobility again.

To the 911 operators I spoke to on the phone and the ambulance staff, I appreciate that you gave me a warning before giving me fentanyl and I was knocked out for like extended hours to days cause that was a very scary fucking moment. Literally taking five seconds to be like hey by the way, I’m about to knock you out. I was like OK cool like and it made it less scary when I woke up in the hospital so thank you. You guys have amazing people skills.

**To my physical therapist:** You turned painful exercises into milestones of victory. Even if movement was limited, or my energy was drained from lack of strength or mobility. You celebrated the small wins with me—the first wiggle of a toe, the first unaided step, even if mobility after the injury is minimal or painful, you helped me gain back even tiny movements and refused to let me give up on myself.

A special thanks to my Luna, who’s my husky Dallas, my cat and my especially my roommate who were also so understanding when I had a very limited mobility and was navigating how to do simple things like walk or stand. I’m so thankful to Luna because she like understands if we’re on a walk and I have to stop she can accept like OK. I’m just gonna smell the breeze right now until sensation comes back to your foot or we can keep walking.

Because of your dedication, compassion, and skill, I'm standing on my own two feet today. You gave me back my independence, and that gift is truly immeasurable.
